Cards that I have

These are the cards that I actually have. This page is based on Ian Romanick's page, and sources can be found there. Just like everything else on the web, this is still a work in progress. I have pretty much all my cards listed, but there are some additional details that still need to be added for some. I also intend to add pictures of all (or at least most) of the cards.

There are a few in a tub that aren't listed here. They're of the trio32/64, mach64 pre-pro, etc. variety.

3dfx

I was so leet when I had this. Aren't 3d-only video cards awesome? (no)

I originally got started doing 3d stuff when I traded my TNT2U to a friend for his PCI Voodoo3. Now, instead of pretending I would work on nvidia's scary obfuscated stuff, I could actually work on the port of 3dfx DRI for FreeBSD. I fear it may be dead now

This card has had several issues over time with our drivers. It's not surprising, since developers generally don't buy these extra-low-end cards. Just got it from keithp, because we were using it to work on tv-out.

The video quality on the first one of these I had made me almost give up on ATI. The ghosting was terrible, and the company I bought it from had the audacity to blame it on my monitor (you know, the same one I used with the previous video card). The second was OK, but the other reports I saw on the internet hadn't made me very hopeful.

I've got a couple of these things, one of which was a donation. They're rock solid. Good performance. Few hardware bugs. I get warm fuzzies just thinking about them.

And now for a card that makes hardware and software cry. Nobody likes PCI.

A loaner from Will, it suffers the usual 9800 issues with the r300 driver.

Intel

Two of them. Haven't verified that the other is the same pci id.

Donation for FreeBSD work. Need to do the work. (Except that the board seems to be dead).

Primary work laptop. Toshiba Toughbook CF-Y4. Nice machine, except you can't get to the hard drive to upgrade it.

Mac Mini. With delightful BIOS still containing LVDS tables.

Intel desktop machine.

The second 3d card I worked on the porting for FreeBSD. Sent to me by Stephen Hocking because I'd been doing 3dfx and he suggested I port another module.

I've got a work-in-progress driver for these guys.

Through working at LinuxFund, I became the maintainer for this hardware. It's been fun, except for the total lack of documentation, bogosity of some data in the headers, magic orders in which to write registers, etc.

I've got two revisions of this on EPIA boards, sent for some FreeBSD work. I should figure out what this chipset was -- CyberBlade, I think.

Revision History

Removed the cards_i_want link, as I don't really want more hardware any more. Also added new Intel hardware.

Added the r128 with video out and the #9. Too bad the Real Image 2100 didn't work -- two heads, massive obscurity. What wasn't to love?

Added two Tridents I found during cleanup.
